ADJUSTMENT

My lady, the cloak you weave
of unknown exotic materials for me
cause concern, anguish, constraint,
conflicting with my personality,
my heart not yet ready
to darken the shadows of what once was,
to dim the light of emotional support to those
who may still need to depend on me,
true too, certain personal traits
developed over the years,
may not please others
as they are exposed to them,
with what ease then
do we turn a new leaf,
alter, change our ways,
use a new approach,
conscious of the needs, the feelings
of someone new, someone else,
a changed style of life
with a different set of rules,
focusing on the Lady's needs,
moving on as it were
adjusting to the future,
while ever so gently, slowly
drifting away from the past,
is this approach compatible
with my Persona, my Psyche,
were you to weigh the choices
on the Scale of Life,
would you concur,
would you approve of that.
