ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Though the shadow of time
has its signature written over your face
the character etched
shows wisdom gained through experience
providing calm, peace and grace
retaining the lively sparkle in your eyes
matched with a just so
endearingly winning smile
what then has changed
is all still as it was.

Perhaps the years some moderation had
on physical stamina for one
kisses no longer so passionate
love a trace less ecstatic than before
tears buttressed with undertanding
not quite as bitter as once they were
the heart less fervent in heated love
yet all those excitable amorous attributes
still very much in vogue
though now supplanted by
measured state of mind
buyoed by commitment of
steadfastness and faith
a much more desireable set of traits
one that often outlasts
the vehement passions of youthful love.
