Away, gone but briefly,
yet less than a fortnight
leaves me feeling 'iffy',
for part of me is missing.

Without you the day is incomplete,
the sun seems less warm or bright
stars at night reflect less light,
my spirits are somewhat bittersweet.

My emotions wrapped around your Being
give credence that absence is acceding,
for you have the delightful gift achieving
a day for us of meaning, a night of giving.
