125 YEARS

Educational, entertaining, joyous,

historic, sentimental, nostalgic,

humorous, emotional, personal,

were some basic characteristics

as an attentive cheering crowd

attended an evening celebration

of Colorado’s, Grand Junction’s

1882-2007- 125th Birthday fest at,

the Avalon Theater April 14, 2007.

The Bookcliff Barbershop Harmony Chorus

in conjunction with numerous District 51

musical talents, together with a well written

historical script, depicted the cities’ growth,

inducing laughter, participation in the many

songs portraying the narrated history, including

a special song written for the occasion entitled,

Grand Junction my Home Town.

As a special treat, the second half of the program

was largely devoted to a well known Denver quartet,

the “Ignition Quartet” including their famous Bass singer,

Dennis Malone who has garnered nine various medals,

including one quartet Gold medal, a great honor indeed.

Suffice it to say, a great time was had by all -

the City continues its forward march and growth

as its popularity and attractiveness in many ways

shows no let up in drawing and appealing to new folks.
